A 57-year old woman was killed while crossing Belcher Road at Cleveland Street in the rain late Wednesday night.

A 57-year old woman was killed while crossing Cleveland Street at Belcher Road in the rain late Wednesday night.

It was dark and raining as Ryan Pasco, 33, was driving his 1967 Volkswagen south on Belcher Road near Cleveland Street.

A woman was standing in the median lane of Belcher Road trying to cross about 50 feet south of the intersection when Pasco hit her around 10:25 p.m., according to Clearwater Police.

There is no indication Pasco was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said. However, alcohol is a factor on the part of the pedestrian, who was crossing outside of the crosswalk, they said.

The woman was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa with life threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead at 11:02 p.m., according to police.

The woman's name is not yet been released.

She was an amazing woman. I knew her personally. She was a writer, a singer and a motivational speaker. She has a beautiful and loving family. She will truly be missed but never forgotten.
