Get rid of unwanted and expired prescription medication seven days a week at the Operation Medicine Cabinet drop box at Clearwater Police headquarters, 645 Pierce St.

Get rid of unwanted and expired prescription medication seven days a week at the Operation Medicine Cabinet drop box at the main Clearwater Police station.

The drop box is located in the lobby for anyone to use from 7:30 a.m. to midnight daily.

To use it, just bring the prescription medications to the front desk at police headquarters, 645 Pierce St., and police personnel will help in placing the items in the drop box.

After the medication is dropped of it is destroyed by incineration.

What is accepted?

Any prescription drug or medicine used for people or pets, including pills, liquids, inhalers, patches and Epi-Pens.

What is prohibited? 

Syringes, bio-hazards and medical equipment.

If possible, safely remove medications from bottles and place in zip lock bags. Liquids should remain in their original containers with the caps secured with tape. Remember to remove labels from the bottles and destroy them.

The program is intended for private, non-commercial use. Items from doctor offices, pharmacies or medical facilities will not be accepted.
