Missing Man Feared in Danger; Police Need Help in Locating Him

A silver alert has been issued for a missing Safety Harbor man who police believe may be in danger.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is seeking the aid of the public in locating a missing Safety Harbor man.

Per the Sheriff's office, George Coar, 81, of the 100 block of Silver Fox Dr. (the Briar Creek Mobile Home Park), has not been seen since roughly noon Wednesday.

Coar's wife alerted authorities that he was missing when she returned home at 1:30 p.m. today and found that both Coar and their vehicle were missing. Coar suffers from dementia and had mentioned to his wife recently that he wanted to visit a coin dealer.

Coar is a coin collector. A silver alert has been issued as Coar may not have sufficient medication for his well-being.

Coar is six-feet tall and weighs about 175 pounds with brown eyes and salt and pepper hear which is balding. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve blue shirt with blue-gray slacks. He is likely using a cane as he has difficulty walking.

Coar's car is listed as a 2010 charcoal gray Toyota Avalon.

Anyone who has information about Coar is encouraged to call their local law enforcement agency immediately.

Well that's just great... now the elderly wife will be a target for all the thieves out there because you HAD to mention that Mr. Coar is a coin collector. Nice going ClearwaterPatch!!

toni: Two things: 1) The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office released that information. If they thought it was a security issue to give out that information in a press release, they would not have done so. 2) It's a piece of evidence to help find the man. Perhaps a coin dealer reads this article and as a result, helps finds the man?
