Motorcyclist Killed on Memorial Causeway

James E. Williams, 26, of Odessa, died after crashing his motorcycle into the median on Memorial Causeway on Sunday night, according to police.

An Odessa man died after crashing his motorcycle into the median on Memorial Causeway on Sunday night. 

Around 7:25 p.m., James E. Williams, 26, was traveling eastbound into downtown at a high speed when he lost control of his motorcycle descending the crest of the bridge, according to Clearwater Police.

Williams was thrown from the motorcycle and hit the base of a sign before landing in the westbound lanes, officials said. He was not wearing a helmet and died on impact, police said.

The motorcycle came to a stop about 200 yards away. 

Part of Memorial Causeway was closed for nearly four hours during the investigation.
