Man Fatally Stabbed at Clearwater Cookout

Clearwater Police say the suspect got into a fight with a man during an early morning party at a South Hillcrest Avenue home, went inside to grab a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.

A man has been arrested and charged with murder after Clearwater Police say he fatally stabbed someone when a fight broke out at a cookout early Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a fight in progress at 226 S. Hillcrest Ave. around 12:22 a.m. and found a man had been stabbed multiple times as a group of people were gathered for the party, public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts said.

The victim, David Lee Kilen, 25, was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said a "physical altercation" broke out between Kilen and the suspect, Ronald Clifford Lefebvre, 43, who then went into the house and grabbed a knife, which he used to stab Kilen.

Lefebvre was taken into custody, interviewed, and later charged with second-degree murder, Watts said.
