Lightning Blows Off Front of Clearwater Home

The Clearwater Fire Department responded to a house fire caused by a lightning strike early Wednesday.

This week’s severe weather caused of a lightning strike that blew off parts of a home in Clearwater on Wednesday, authorities say.

The Clearwater Fire Department responded to a lightning strike fire at 1450 Citrus Street just before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.

According to the department’s Facebook page, damage to the home was sustained only to its facade.

The homeowner says metal parts of the front of the home, such as the doorbell and address plate, exploded off the house due to the lightning bolt’s intense heat.

No injuries were reported resulting from the fire.
