Investigators say a lightning strike caused Saturday's fire at a Clearwater apartment building that left 20 people displaced.
Clearwater Fire and Rescue was called to the scene shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday at 2550 Stag Run Blvd. Firefighters arrived minutes later, and it took them more than 40 minutes to put out the third-story blaze.
Investigators said lightning struck the roof near the chimney, sparking the fire and causing about $50,000 in structural damage. Two units were damaged from the fire, and six more from water and smoke.
The Red Cross provided assistance to residents who were displaced.
