Holiday Man Arrested in Clearwater Bank Robbery

Robert Ashcroft was arrested and charged with robbery of the Bank of America in Clearwater July 31, according to Clearwater Police.

A Holiday man is accused in a Clearwater bank robbery from July. 

Robert Ashcroft, 52, gave a teller a note demanding money and telling her someone was watching them at the Bank of America, 1911 N. Belcher Rd., on July 31, said Rob Shaw, Clearwater Police spokesman. 

Ashcroft was not armed during the incident.

Surveillance photos provided excellent photos of Ashcroft, Shaw said in an email. Investigators followed leads to track Ashcroft down. He was arrested and charged with robbery Thursday afternoon.

Ashcroft confessed to the crime, Shaw said. He will be booked at the Pinellas County Jail later this evening.
