Helicoptor Lands, Police Demonstrations Part of National Night Out Tuesday

Watch Bayflite land, police perform demonstrations and shred those old documents at the 30th annual National Night Out Tuesday.

The event started nationally in 1984 as a crime-prevention tool to encourage partnerships between police and the community.

Clearwater Police K9, mounted units and members of the SWAT team will be part of the event this year in the Super Target parking lot at Clearwater Mall.

Traffic enforcement cars, vehicles from Clearwater Fire and Rescue and a Bayflite medical helicopter also will be on display.

There is a bicycle safety course for children and free bike helmets and bike lights available. Children can have their faces painted.

Adults can bring documents to be shredded by ProShred.

There also will be plenty to eat. There are 26 restaurants handing out free food.
