Clearwater Woman Drowns at Fort De Soto Park

An unconscious Clearwater woman was pulled from shallow water off Fort De Soto Park Sunday morning died at a St. Petersburg hospital.

Just after 11 a.m. on Sunday, a lifeguard spotted Michelle Dresser, 56, floating face down, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

The lifeguard performed CPR on the scene, before Dresser was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where she later died.

According to investigators, Dresser was at North Beach with friends and was seen floating and paddling in shallow water.

At this point, deputies say there is no evidence of foul play.

The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause.
