A diver from Clearwater was found floating in a Palm Beach County waterway Sunday and was later pronounced dead, the Palm Beach Post reports.
The 57-year-old woman, whose identity has not been released, was found floating in the Intracoastal Waterway near a park in Riviera Beach, according to the Post report. A Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office marine patrol boat pulled her from the water.
She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead, a sheriff's office spokesperson told the newspaper.
The woman was diving Sunday morning with a buddy who told her to surface, but the woman kept going down after a starfish, the Post reports.
"The other diver and the woman became separated," the Post article states. "When he surfaced, he saw the sheriff’s boat pulling the woman out of the water."
The death is under investigation.
