Clearwater Police are looking for a suspect who shot at two men in a car, giving the passenger life-threatening injuries, Tuesday afternoon in South Greenwood.

Clearwater Police are looking for a suspect who shot at two men in a car, causing the passenger life-threatening injuries, Tuesday afternoon in South Greenwood.

Two men in a vehicle pulled up to a residence on the 1300 block of S. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue after 4 p.m. and started arguing with a man who came outside.

The man who came outside pulled a gun and started firing it, hitting the 18-year old passenger in the vehicle, according to Clearwater Police.

The driver left the scene.

Friends took the gunshot victim to Morton Plant Hospital.

Police were called by multiple residents about gunshots at 4:28 p.m. Shortly after, police also were called about a gunshot victim at the hospital.

Officers cleared the 1300 block of S. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue including the suspect's residence and another nearby in an attempt to find him before determining he fled the area.

Because of his life-threatening injuries the victim was taken to an undisclosed trauma center, police said.

The suspect and the men in the car are known to one another and police do not consider the incident a random act.

Because of the nature of the investigation names are not being released yet, police said.
