Clearwater Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash
One person died in crash on Memorial Causeway.
A fatal motorcycle crash shut down two eastbound lanes on the Memorial Causeway between Island Way and the roundabout Saturday night.
One person, the driver of the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at roughly 9:56 p.m., according to traffic homicide investigators with the Clearwater Police Department. Investigators are not identifying the deceased to the public until the next of kin is notified.
Both eastbound lanes were closed after the crash. According to a media release received at 11:38 p.m., they were expected to remain for closed for the next few hours during the investigation of the crash.

Only one lane in each direction was open to traffic at the crash site. Drivers in one eastbound lane were directed into the westbound lanes, where they could continue driving east.
