The case involved the alleged use of phony credit cards to purchase $3,500 in gift cards, police said.
According to police, officers were called to Walmart, at 23106 U.S. 19 North, Friday evening after store security allegedly saw a suspect trying to use a phony credit card to buy gift cards.
Clearwater Police allege that three suspects had in their possession a total of 34 fraudulent fraudulent credit cards, as well as 54 gift cards they had purchased.
Charged with grand theft and scheming to defraud were:
- Ricardo Martinez, 33, 7051 Hollowell Drive, Tampa;
- Pedro Ernesto Garcia Hernandez, 24, 8507 N. Tampa St.;
- Jose Ramon Garcia Capdevilla, 24, Tampa.
The three men were booked into Pinellas County Jail.
