Clearwater Man Arrested in Tarpon Springs Homeless Men Shooting

Myron Farley is also believed to be a person of interest in the death of a homeless man found at an abandoned gas station in Clearwater this week.

A Clearwater man was arrested and charged in the shooting of two homeless men in Tarpon Springs last month and is believed to be a person of interest in the death of a homeless man whose body was found at an abandoned gas station on Gulf to Bay Boulevard this week.

Myron Farley, 32, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the Aug. 5 shootings of Brian Kennedy and Larry Schuff, Rob Shaw, Clearwater Police spokesman, said in a release.

Farley was taken into custody by Clearwater Police about 9:20 a.m. Friday
during a traffic stop at U.S. 19 and State Road 590, Shaw said.

Kennedy was killed and Schuff remains hospitalized in serious condition, Shaw said.

Clearwater and Tarpon Springs police departments started working together on Sept. 16 when Clearwater Police found the body of a homeless man at an abandoned gas station at 1840 Gulf to Bay Blvd.

Forensics workers from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office noticed similarities in the death of John Austin Lloyd and the Tarpon Springs shooting case, Shaw said.

Clearwater detectives are continuing to investigate Farley as a person of
interest in the Lloyd case.

This is not Farley's only run in with authorities.

He was arrested and charged with strong armed robbery Aug. 15 in Tarpon Springs. In that incident, Farley is accused of putting a man he knew for a decade in a chokehold and stole $10 from him.
