Clearwater Firefighter Injured in 'Suspicious' Fire, Police Say

Clearwater Fire and Rescue is investigating the cause of a fire at a Clearwater duplex Sunday afternoon.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue officials say a duplex fire on Amble Lane is considered "suspicious."

Four people were home when officials arrived on scene at 1001 Amble Lane around 3 p.m. Sunday, according to a media release.

According to Clearwater Fire and Rescue, flames went through the roof. One person suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, officials say.

A firefighter sustained a burn to his neck from falling debris and was going to seek treatment at a walk-in clinic, according to the release.

The home sustained major damage. The cause is under investigation.
