Clearwater Fire Working Brush Fire at Moccasin Lake Park

Officials say they appear to have the fire contained but have called in the Division of Forestry to make sure it doesn't spread.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue was working a brush fire on Park Trail Lane at Moccasin
Lake Park on Monday evening, and officials say it appears to be contained.

Fire officials at the scene describe it as more smoldering than active fire, according to public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts in a media release sent just after 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters appear to have the fire contained but have called the Division of Forestry to assist with making fire lines to make sure it does not spread due to some wind, Watts said. No homes are in danger.

Three engines and one truck from Clearwater and a unit from Dunedin are also on the scene, Watts said.

No further information was immediately available.
