Cook Out and Check Out Clearwater Fire Stations at Open House Events

The seventh annual Clearwater Fire and Rescue open house events are planned for Saturday, Oct. 13.

Learn the importance in escape planning through demonstrations and activities as part of Clearwater Fire and Rescue's seventh annual Open House on Saturday.

This year’s focus is on having more than one escape route at home. The open house events are in conjunction with the Fire Prevention Week 2012: “Have 2 Ways Out."

“It’s important to have two escape routes because if the first one is blocked, you have another option,” said Fire Marshal Steve Strong in a release. “It can take as little as a few minutes for a home to be taken over by smoke and flames.”

The open houses include a smoke simulation showing the limited visibility in a fire, firefighter bailout demos and children’s stations to simulate fire suppression.

There also will be a firehouse cookout with hamburgers, hot dogs and sides.
