Check Out the New Fire Engine Saturday

A dedication ceremony for the new firetruck will take place at 9 a.m. at Station 50 in Countryside.

Clearwater's new Countryside Fire Engine will be dedicated Saturday, and residents are invited to attend the ceremony at Station 50 in Countryside.

Mayor George Cretekos and Fire Chief Robert Weiss will speak at the event, which begins at 9 a.m.

The engine will be dedicated in the memory of Lt. Glenn Witko, who worked for the fire department from 1995 to 2010, shortly before he passed away.

The new vehicle, which cost about $500,000, replaces one that is 14 years old.

Vice Mayor Paul Gibson and Council Member Bill Jonson also are planning to attend.

Station 50 is located just east of Countryside Mall at 2681 Countryside Blvd. The station serves neighborhoods and businesses located in the northern part of the city.
