Budget Inn Scene of 470 Calls for Service

Clearwater Police are called to the motel almost daily for myriad reasons including suspicious people, prostitutes and drugs since July 2012.

Clearwater Police are very familiar with 1471 Court St.

They would have to be, an officer is called to that address for directed patrols, suspicious people, prostitutes and drugs at least once a day for the last year.

The area was the scene of a warrant sweep that got 12 people evicted from the motel in February.

A resident fed up with the motel plagued with problems shared her thoughts recently in the Speak Out Boards on Clearwater Patch.

The 470 calls for service to the Budget Inn address since July 2012 are for a variety of reasons, said Rob Shaw, Clearwater Police spokesman.

Here are some of them:

  • 136 calls described as directed patrol
  • 30 for Park, Walk and Talk
  • 8 calls for prostitution
  • 22 calls about drugs
  • 100 suspicious person or vehicle

“Sometimes, that address is given for something that is not even related to the business there,” Shaw said.

The address also was the scene of 22 traffic stop calls.
