Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested in Louisiana

Justin Nichols, 21, was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the first degree early Monday morning in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for a March altercation at Ed Wright Park.

A suspect wanted in an attempted murder committed in March at Ed Wright Park was apprehended in Baton Rouge, Louisiana early Monday morning.

Justin Allen Nichols, 21, was arrested at a La Quinta Inn with the help of US Marshals Service and was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parrish Prison before he is extradited to Florida.

Nichols stabbed a 23 year-old man during a fight over a woman at 5:40 a.m. March 30 at the South Greenwood park, according to Clearwater Police.

Nichols caused near fatal injuries during the altercation, police said. 

Nichols and the victim were known to each other, said Elizabeth Watts, police spokeswoman.

Nichols was found through the help of anonymous tips, officials said.

The anonymous information was able to be quickly disseminated to the investigators and was a critical part of the arrest of the suspect.
