The Pub Crawler: Poblano’s Mexican Grill & Bar
A place for those who like their Mexican food with a bit of American flavor.
With its spacious dining area, large rectangular bar, covered outdoor patio and bevy of flat screens TVs, Poblano’s Mexican Grill and Bar isn’t your typical authentic Mexican restaurant.
But considering the kitchen serves a host of Mexican dishes, the bar offers imported beers as well as sangria and Margaritas, and there is a constant stream of Latin music playing in the background, Poblano’s can’t be looked at as your typical sports bar, either.
What this establishment, located in the Oakbrook Shopping Plaza on McMullen Booth Road, is is a combination of a number of popular themes: part Mexican eatery, part sports pub, and part family restaurant chain.

The dining area features booths along all sides and tables in the center, while the big bar dominates the right side.
TVs are located in each corner of the front area, as well as around the inside of the bar, and the patio area is large enough to hold a full-size fiesta.

And where the look of the place may be American, the considerable menu is 100 percent Mexican.
Appetizers include nachos, flautas and queso, and lunch features combos with individual items as well as dishes like fajitas, taco salads and huevos rancheros.
They also offer a multitude of entrees such as steak rancheros, pollo loco and the aforementioned Jalisco chicken, plus tacos, salads, enchiladas and every other kind of Mexican meal item you can think of.
The full liquor bar specializes in Mexican cocktails, including beers like Modelo, Dos Equis and Tecate, sangia, mojitos, plus nine different Margarita variations.
Happy Hour runs from 3 to 7 p.m. daily, with $.99 domestic drafts and $2.25 drinks; on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Poblano’s offers a great beer special: 32 oz. drafts for $2.99.
Live music can be heard on Monday and Friday from 6 to 10 p.m., and be sure to check out their Taco Madness on Mondays, where all the tacos are $.99 and house Margaritas go for $1.99.
