Five Things to Know Today

Celebrate National Flip Flip Day with a free smoothie, eat and drink in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and more is going on in Clearwater Friday (June 15).

 

1. Casual Friday takes on a whole new meaning on National Flip Flop Day. Expect a partly sunny day with a high of 87 and a 40 percent chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service.

2. Celebrate National Flip Flop Day with a free smoothie from 2 to 7 p.m. at . The event started as a way for Tropical Smoothie Cafe to thank its customers and now it helps raise money for Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life threatening illnesses and their families. Stores will give away a 24 oz. Jetty Punch smoothie.

3. Better get your school books before next week. campus bookstores will be closed June 18-23. They reopen under the management of Barnes & Noble on June 25.

4. Celebrate the end of National Flip Flop day taking in the sunset and a free movie during the nightly Sunset Festival at . Bring a picnic, a lawn chair or towel and catch a screening of Bedtime Stories at 8 p.m. The festival also features street performers, artists and crafters.

5. Sip and enjoy live music during the Breast on the Beach fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation Saturday at , 333 S Gulfview Blvd.
