What is Respite Care?
Respite care is short-term relief for someone caring for a friend or family member. In-home respite care is often the preferred choice for many families as it allows a temporary caregiver to provide care to the individual within the comfort of their own home.
Why Respite Care is Important
According to the National Family Caregiving Association:

- 17 percent of family caregivers provide more than 40 hours of care per week
- Family caregivers experiencing extreme stress have been shown to age prematurely

- Homemaker or maid services to help with laundry, shopping and preparing meals
In-home respite care can be especially helpful to those seniors with Dementia. Often times, a person with dementia may have difficulty adjusting to a new environment. In-home care allows the overall adjustment to become easier.
Give yourself a break every once in a while. You have to be willing to accept help sometimes and care for yourself, otherwise you won't be able to care for the ones you love.
