Plumb PTA Fall Carnival, 40th Anniversary!

Plumb Elementary PTA Fall Carnival Celebrates 40th Anniversary with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Crowns Carnival Day Prince and Princess, just like 40 years ago!

Clearwater, Florida, October 10, 2013

The Parent Teacher Association at Plumb Elementary School is pleased to announce that it is having its yearly Fall Carnival on October 25th from 6 – 9 p.m., and October 26th from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.  A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held to open its 40th Anniversary Fall Carnival on October 26th at 10 a.m.   People from all over the area will descend on 1920 Lakeview Road in
Clearwater, looking forward to a time of fun, food, and friends.  Old friends will be in abundance this year, as past principals, teachers and students are coming to celebrate this historical event!

Forty years ago Plumb Elementary School’s Parents Club started what has become a Clearwater tradition!  Over the years people have come to believe that Clearwater just would not be the same without the Plumb PTA’s Fall Carnival!  The Fall Carnival has become a point of contact for past Pelicans, who often bring their children to the Carnival to show them where Dad or Mom used to go to school, to hold their hands as they experience Plumb’s Haunted House for the first time, to cheer them on as they try to “dunk” the current principal, or to taste whatever Carnival food is available that year.

On November 13, 1974, what was then The St. Petersburg Times carried an article describing the second year’s venues, and naming their Prince and Princess, who were the winners of their Carnival poster contest.  Karen Hassel, the Princess that year, has been invited to crown this year’s Prince and Princess at the Ceremony, and carry on that tradition!  Along with Karen, Mrs. Janet McMullen, a co-chair for the Carnival in 1974, will also be on hand to celebrate with us!

Music, a festive atmosphere, games, prizes, a Silent Auction and Prize Drawing, the first running of the Plumb Baby Derby and Toddler Trot,  “Thriller” performed by the Gulf Coast Dance Center,  and our own family-friendly “Haunted Carnival” Haunted House, along with face-painting, the General Store and Food Trucks are will all be available for your enjoyment.

Join us for this 40th Anniversary Plumb PTA Fall Carnival Celebration!  Proceeds from the Carnival will be used to fund different Programs and buy needed equipment for the students and teachers at Plumb Elementary School.  You can find more information on our PTA website at www.plumbelementarypta.org.
