Volley America National Championships in Clearwater Beach

The $75,000 4C Totally Light 2Go Big Shot Volleyball Series will return to Clearwater Beach on Oct. 27-28, co sponsored by Rider Sandals.


The tournament will attract players from throughout the United States to the white sand beaches across from the Magnuson Hotel near Pier 60 and will be the final event of the 2012 season


The tournaments will be the 34th tournament in the 35 tournament series promoted by East End Volleyball throughout the East Coast.

The series has awarded over $75,000 cash prizes throughout the season that started Feb. 25 in Clearwater Beach. Players from over 20 states and Canada are expected to compete for a share of the cash prizes as they compete for the Volley America National Championship title.


Top players competing include Florida players Adrian Carambula, the best player on the East Coast, and Matt Henderson, the top Tampa area player. Also playing will be Justin Phipps from Dunedin who has been playing all season on the Pro Beach Volleyball Tour.

Top female players will include local star Tara Kuk, and Sarasota Florida stars Chara Harris, and Megan Wallin. Kristen Batt and Raquel Ferreira, who made it to their first Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Tour final in Belmar, NJ in June are also expected to play.


The tournaments are sanctioned by Volley America, the largest grass roots program in the US. Volley America offers tournaments, clinics and leagues creating opportunities for players of all levels to improve their game. Players who really excel can qualify for the Pro Tour through EEVB’s top events.


Players of all skill levels will be eligible for play in the tournament sponsored by Rider Sandals. There will be divisions for intermediate and novice level events with players competing for merchandise prizes from 4C Totally light 2Go, Spalding, Rider Sandals, SOB Vacations, Rox Volleyball, Bally’s Casino, Zem Booties, 1st Place Volleyball, SOB Volleyball Vacations, Sweet Tomatoes, Park & Sun net systems, Dig Magazine, Sportime, Sixpak.com Volleygear, Horry County, Spike Key.


Tournament play will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday. Player check in is one hour prior to start time. Men's and Women's Open, AA, A, and B Divisions will play on Saturday. Coed Open, A, and B teams will play on Sunday. Admission is free for all spectators who are encouraged to come early for a front row seat. A player’s party open to the public, will be held Saturday evening at the Shephard’s in Clearwater. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday for Men's & Women's Open, AA, A, & B Divisions


9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday for Coed Open, A, & B Divisions


Playoffs 4-6 p.m. each day


Cost: Free for spectators, $60/team


Prizes: $75,000 total will be awarded during the entire season including $5,000 in Clearwater Beach; $2,500 Men’s Open; $2,500 Women’s Open.
