Before any word was ever written, people everywhere relied on the storytellers to share their culture, lessons and legends. The stories were intentionally entertaining.
Since 1988 TELLABRATION! events have been held all over the world, not only to celebrate story, but particularly to reacquaint grown-ups with the entertainment that storytellers provide. Traditionally, these events are held around the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This week, three events will take place in the Tampa Bay area for TELLABRATION! (See www.tampabaystorytellersguild.net for more specific information about events in other locations in Tampa Bay.)
This Sunday, the 2nd annual CELTIC STORYFEST will be celebrated from noon to 1:00 at Good Shepherd. Preceding this event is a Bodacious Brunch ($5 donation) from 8:30 to noon. Both the 8:00 and 10:00 services will have a "kirkin' o' the tartans."
Stories will be presented by members and friends of the TAMPA BAY STORYTELLERS' GUILD, which holds meetings in Dunedin on the third Sunday of odd numbered months. The stories will appeal to grown-ups, but are safe for all ages.
There is NO CHARGE for the StoryFest, but a love offering will be accepted to help those in need in our community.
