Community Corner

Commit2B:Heart-Healthy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CrossFit Rebels Hosts a Monthly Free “Community Workout” Called
“Commit2B:____” to Promote Family Fitness in a Fun and Challenging Environment.
Each month the workout has a new theme. January was “Commit2B:Fit”. This month
is “Commit2B:Heart-Healthy” in honor of the CDC and American Heart
Association’s Heart Month.

CrossFit Rebels will host a
free community-based workout the first Saturday of every month at 10:00am, tailored
and scalable to all levels of fitness.
Families (children age four and up) of all ages and fitness levels will
be educated and coached on proper movement form, and will work through a fun,
team-oriented workout that will stimulate interest in and compliance with health
and fitness.

February’s “Commit2B:Fit” is
the second of 12 months of workouts tailored toward families in our community
to embrace the concept that fitness can be a fun, family-oriented activity.
Each month will have a different theme: March’s looks to be “Commit2B:Strong”
in to illustrate how strength provide a solid, safe structure, good posture,
strong bones and a higher metabolism!

CrossFit Rebels (CFR) is a
10,000 square foot facility located at 2077 Sunnydale Blvd in Clearwater, FL,
Pinellas County.  The Commit2B:Heart-Healthy
Workout will start at 10:00am and last approximately an hour.  Coaches and trainers including CrossFit
Coaches, Personal Trainers, Physicians and Therapists, will be on site to
coach, encourage and motivate participants. At the end of each workout,
participants will leave with three additional workouts that can be done without
equipment, at a local park or back yard.
The goal is to keep participants active throughout the month until the
next Commit2B: workout.

The U.S. Department of
Agriculture. Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2010 currently reports that
less than 5% of adults participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day.  According to the National Association for
Sport and Physical Education, only one in three children are physically active
every day. New reports state “children are sitting an average of nine hours per
day between school, television watching and other sedentary activities.  Their shoulders are rounded forward, their
femurs rotate medially and their bodies are basically locked in an upright
fetal position.”  (Source: Fit-pro.com

CrossFit Rebels (CFR) is a
fitness facility focusing on functional movements presented in a constantly
varied format. This format lends to higher levels of interest and
competitiveness, leading to better compliance with an exercise program.  The Coaches and Trainers at CFR are highly
educated and credentialed in training kids and adults. The concept of
“Commit2B:Heart-Healthy” for February is an effort to bring families together
in a skilled but comfortable and fun environment where they can train (workout)
together and experience the “fun” in “functional fitness”.
