Fire Destroys Storage Building

Firefighters witnessed a series of explosions at a storage building early Sunday morning on Garden Ave.

Investigators are trying to figure out what started a fire at a storage building early Sunday morning that resulted in a series of explosions.

Firefighters responded to a fire at 503 N. Garden Ave. at 1:51 a.m, according to City of Clearwater spokesperson Elizabeth Watts. When firefighters arrived, they witnessed several explosions in one of the buildings. Investigators think propane storage tanks may have been stored inside the building, causing the explosions.

The blaze destroyed one building, which is believed to have six units. A second building was also damaged.
