Longtime Clearwater resident Hulk Hogan is embroiled in a legal battle and a feud of pro wrestling proportions with a local radio host over a sex tape.
Hogan filed a civil lawsuit in Pinellas County Circuit Court earlier this week against shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge Clem and Clem's ex-wife, Heather Clem, TBO.com reports. The suit accuses the two of videotaping Hogan and Heather Clem having sex in her bedroom about six years ago.
Hogan also filed a lawsuit in federal court against the owners of the celebrity gossip website Gawker.com, which recently released an excerpt of the video.
Clem spent Tuesday morning on his 102.5 FM radio show bashing Hogan, a longtime friend, and saying that Hogan was aware he was being recorded, TBO reports.
The radio host said he was not responsible for the sex tape being leaked, and that the sexual arrangement with the three was "consensual," according to TBO.
Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, told NBC's "Today Show" last week his life has been flipped "totally upside down" by the release of the tape and that he did not know he was being filmed.
Hogan, who skyrocketed to fame in the 1980s as pro wrestling's biggest superstar, has lived in the Clearwater area for more than 20 years. He purchased a $3.3 million home on Clearwater Beach last spring after selling his lavish Belleair mansion, which served as the backdrop for his family's reality show, "Hogan Knows Best."
A Hogan-themed retail shop was slated to open soon on Mandalay Avenue not far from his home.
