Lockdown Lifted at Belleair Elementary School

A man involved in a domestic related incident called Clearwater Police after two men chased him. The man thought he saw that one of them had a gun and felt threatened said Elizabeth Watts, police spokeswoman. 

"No one was trying to get on campus or do harm to little children," Watts said.

UPDATE: The lockdown at Belleair Elementary School was lifted around 12:51 p.m., according to Clearwater Police.

"It is believed the suspect fled the area in a vehicle," according to Clearwater Police. "It has not been determined if the suspect was actually armed or why he was chasing the victim."

No one was hurt.

Belleair Elementary School was put on lockdown as a precaution following a report of an armed subject in the area Monday afternoon.

A man reported he was chased by a someone with a gun near the 1100 block of Lakeview Road not far from the school around 12:20 p.m.

Clearwater Police officers are circulating the area looking for the reported armed subject, according to a release.
