Last year, a Tampa-based high school senior, Tre’ Watson, won the $10,000 student banking sweepstakes. “Thanks to Fifth Third Bank, I will be able to pursue my dream of going to college and playing football,” said Watson. “These funds came at the perfect time as I was in the midst of planning where to go to school.”

“Choosing a college is one of the most important decisions a high school student makes – it paves the road for their future,” said José Peña, senior vice president and head of retail banking for Fifth Third Bank (North Florida). “We feel it’s important to give students an account that’s easy to use and provides convenient access to their money.  With support from their parents, students have the opportunity to manage their own checking account, learning financial skills and discipline that will serve them a lifetime.”

Designed with students in mind, the Fifth Third Student Checking account offers no monthly fee or minimum balance, one free incoming wire transfer per statement period, five free non-Fifth Third ATM transactions per month and free email balance alerts for students and parents.
