Clegg Insurance to Celebrate 4 Years, Continued Growth

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Locally owned Clegg Insurance Group will celebrate its fourth year in business and continued growth Friday.

On Nov. 1, 2009, Ryan Clegg, a Clearwater native, founded Clegg Insurance Group, a Clearwater-based insurance firm that provides insurance services throughout the state of Florida.

When Clegg Insurance was founded, the Great Recession was already in full swing, but Clegg was determined to succeed.

The Clearwater High School graduate, who later attended and graduated from Ohio University, decided that even though the economy appeared tough, there was no better time to start his own business. He believed he could succeed by providing people premium service while selling them an essential product.

The concept worked. After three years in business, Clegg Insurance moved from a 90-square-foot executive suite in the Wilder Center to an 1,800-square-foot office located in the SunTrust building, also owned by Wilder, overlooking downtown Clearwater and Clearwater Harbor.

The move was to accommodate the growing team of managers and employees needed to continue to provide unparalleled customer service.

"That's truly what we based this company on," said 29-year-old Clegg. "We founded this company around the goal of not only delivering on the promises we make, but exceeding the expectations placed upon us." For Clegg Insurance, though, it has never been about making a sale.

"We don't want to just sell you an insurance policy, we want for Clegg Insurance to become your trusted team of advisors and your partner for all of your insurance needs,” Clegg said. “In this world, life is too short to do business with people you don't know and can't trust."

With continued growth, has come the demand for more employees. Clegg recently hired Andrew Hughes as chief operating officer. Hughes brings 14 years of industry experience to Clegg Insurance. Additionally, Alexandra Faust, formerly with Wells Fargo NA, serves as Clegg’s trusted Vice President.   “One of the factors that led me to decide to join Clegg Insurance Group was the strong, credible reputation they are building,” said Faust. “I wanted to get in at the ground level because I'm confident that big things are ahead."
 
In May, Clegg Insurance Group acquired Florida Insurance Partners, "Despite expansion, our main priority will always be our customers," said Clegg.

With regards to future growth, Clegg plans to continue to grow organically, while also looking at the potential for future acquisitions.

In addition to providing various insurance options to their customers, Clegg Insurance Group has started a tradition of giving back to the local community. In addition to sponsoring Morton Plant Mease’s Skip Cline Society, each November, Clegg Insurance Group hosts a charity golf tournament at Belleair Country Club supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas.
