Clearwater Chambers Part of New Pinellas Chamber Coalition

The Upper Pinellas Chamber Coalition hopes to market area events and businesses.

By Local Editor William Mansell

In hopes of improving the area's business climate, the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce and Clearwater Beach Chamber, along with five other Pinellas chambers, have formed the Upper Pinellas Chamber Coalition.

"A key role of chambers is to build relationships based on trust and integrity and businesses do not care about imaginary jurisdictional lines so doing some things jointly helps broaden community business bonds," the newly formed coalition wrote in a news release.

Other participating chambers include: Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, Safety Harbor, Greater Palm Harbor and Upper Tampa Bay Chamber.

According to the coalition, the joint chamber will help market the area businesses and events while individual chambers still will operate independently.

"Each chamber has a unique community culture that will be preserved while extending the awareness of each of the chambers across a broader base," the coalition said. "The overall goal is to increase services to membership as well as increasing coalition influence on the Upper Pinellas business environment without increasing costs."

The coalition also said the joint venture will help wield greater influence on political and infrastructure issues in northern Pinellas.

According to the coalition, it will host its first mixer from 5:30 - 7 p.m., Sept. 18 at Salt Rock Tavern and Rumba Island Bar and Grill, 3687 Tampa Rd in
Oldsmar.
