Coming Soon to Our Skies... Domestic Surveillance Drone Spying

Recently Congress passed some unprecedented laws allowing the skies to be used for domestic intelligence gathering by drones.

Recently Congress passed some unprecedented laws allowing the skies to be used for domestic intelligence gathering by drones originally developed for use by the military; they can fly for hours, taking in everything that goes on below.

This is an outrageous invasion of government on our lives; sophisticated cameras and logarithms can be used for pattern matching so that individual vehicles can be mapped for “regular” trips to and from work, school and so forth. Yet what if you happen to worship at a Mosque, are a Scientologist, Mormon or Jew, or go to a gun store or shooting range or all three? Happen to be going too close to sensitive infrastructure because you are a birder? You may get a knock on your door from law enforcement asking why.

This information can be easily deduced from the mountains of data the government can process, and our Founding Fathers would be shocked that the Federal Government, and even local police departments have the ability to map everywhere we go and use it against us, all without a warrant.

We all should demand that our local governments pass legislation keeping this ability to spy on us from all law enforcement without warrants, as Ben Franklin is reported to have said “Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.”
