Looking to do more than sip cerveza and feast on guacamole? While honoring the Mexican Army’s 1862 victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla ranks low in Mexico, the holiday has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture here.

No matter what you choose to do, make sure to do it safely. Here are a few ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Clearwater:

1. Catch some beisbol

The in game two of a four game series that features a post game fireworks display Saturday night. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.

3. Humane Society of Pinellas vaccine fiesta

Get your pet vaccinated for a low cost from noon to 2 p.m. at the animal shelter, 3040 State Road 590. The clinic is first come, first served.

4. The Library 

Yeah, we said it. Check out the East Library for plenty of Cinco de Mayo fun starting at 2 p.m. at 2251 Drew St. The family-friendly event features traditional games, music and crafts.

5. Super Moon Saturday

Enjoy the day outside at the beach or one of the city’s parks. Just remember that is was not too much tequila when you see it seems you might be able to touch the moon.
