Taste of Clearwater, Deep Sea Cephalopods, Rock the Tot

Here's a quick look at some things going on in Clearwater Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Making Waves With Deep Sea Cephalopods

Dr. Heather Judkins, recipient of the 2012 Florida Marine Science Educators Association’s John Beakley Award for dedication, promotion and development of marine science in Florida, will be speaking about her work on various cephalopod projects which include species diversity, distribution and abundance of the species at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, 249 Windward Passage. Deep sea cephalopods include squids, octopus and cuttlefish.

Film Screening with Movie Star

Cozi Zuehlsdorff who played Hazel Haskett in "Dolphin Tale" will be at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium for a screening of the documentary she hosts "Winter, The Dolphin That Can" at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the aquarium, 249 Windward Passage. Click here to reserve your spot.

The documentary takes viewers on the real-life journey of Winter the dolphin including her rescue, rehabilitation and development of her prosthetic tail. Find out more here.

Mandalay Avenue Lane Closure

The center lanes of Mandalay Avenue will close for three days to remove the median starting Tuesday. The work is just south of San Marco Street.

No detour will be in place because a lane in each direction will remain open. The center lanes are expected to re-open Friday, Sept. 20.

Crossword Puzzle Party

Seniors can play crossword, sudoku and word seek puzzles at the Puzzle Party at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Clearwater Senior Center, 1204 Rogers St. Find out more here.
