"Learn Before You Get Burned." Before possibly being victimized by a door-to-door contractor, telemarketer or online scammer call the Clearwater Police fraud hotline at 727-562-4424. The phone hours are 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

$1 Tuesday Comes to a Close
Get one last chance to stretch a buck at Bright House Field. The Threshers play the Tampa Yankees at 7 p.m. for the final $1 Tuesday promotion of the season. Tickets, beverages, hot dogs and more ballpark fare is all $1, all night. Find out more here.

Final Farmers Market Wednesday

The final Summertime Farmers Market is from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday along the 500 block of Cleveland Street. Grab some lunch, fresh produce or artisan gift.

‘Badass’ Teachers Are Worried About Education
As week two of the new school year gets under way, teachers across the state and nation are coming together to voice concerns about the  tougher Common Core standards being adopted by states across the country. Calling themselves the Badass Teachers Association, the group wants schools to slow down on adoption of the new rules and fears too much testing will diminish creativity. Ready to dry out after all the recent storms? You might  be in luck, but don’t count on avoiding rain all together. Forecasters anticipate rain chances of about 30 percent in the afternoon and evening hours today, Aug. 27. On the upside, the torrential, widespread showers we’ve experienced recently are not on tap as drier air moves into the region.
