License Free Fishing, Grand Re-Openings, Rain Chances on the Rise

Here's a real quick way to find out what's going on in Clearwater Friday, Aug. 30, and into the weekend.

Spend Sunday fishing for your Labor Day cookout. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is waiving the saltwater fishing license requirement for all recreational anglers - residents and visitors - on Sunday, Sept. 1. For fishing tips, locations and rules, visit MyFWC.com/Fishing.

Threshers Fan Appreciation Night

Where else can you meet the Phillie Phanatic and be witness to the largest fireworks display this weekend? Try Bright House Field for the Threshers Fan Appreciation Night starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at 601 N Old Coachman Road. The Threshers play cross town rivals the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Catch a Movie at Pier 60

Want some free entertainment with a side of popcorn this weekend? Head on over to Clearwater’s Pier 60 to catch movies at no cost during Sunset Cinema. A screening of Babe The Gallant Pig is set for Friday. Find out what other movies play this weekend here.

Rain Chances Rise

Hopefully those umbrellas haven’t collected too much dust. The National Weather Service says rain chances go up as we head into the Labor Day weekend. The chance for Friday, Aug. 30, is set at 40 percent in the afternoon hours.
