Countryside Library Plans, Property Tax Rate, Tator Tots

Share Thoughts on Future Countryside Library

The final public meeting for residents to share their thoughts on the design of the future Countryside Library is from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Countryside Recreation Center, 2640 Sabal Springs Drive.

Harvard Jolly Architects will present the project scope, options for the site and conceptual drawings for the new facility. Potential design aesthetics will also be discussed. City officials will also be on hand to field citizen ideas and help address concerns.

Cost for the 22,500 square foot facility is expected to be $6.4-million. Construction is expected to start May 2014 and would take about a year to complete. Call 727-562-4970.

Leaders to Set Property Tax Rate

City leaders are expected to set the property tax rate as part of the City Council meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 112 S Osceola Ave. Check out the rest of the agenda here.

Making Waves With Deep Sea Cephalopods

Dr. Heather Judkins, recipient of the 2012 Florida Marine Science Educators Association’s John Beakley Award for dedication, promotion and development of marine science in Florida, will be speaking about her work on various cephalopod projects which include species diversity, distribution and abundance of the species at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, 249 Windward Passage. Deep sea cephalopods include squids, octopus and cuttlefish.

The 19-year-old Bradenton man arrested for streaking at a Tampa Bay Rays game is no stranger to hijinks-related arrests, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Charles Ross has been arrested in the past for back-flipping over a cop and for handing out wedgies at a movie theater.
