More than 25 wounded veterans will get a chance to sail as the Wounded Warrior Project comes to the Clearwater Community Sailing Center Saturday.
The veterans will go out on the water in sailboats designed for people with disabilities. There also will be pontoon boats that accommodate veterans in wheelchairs as well as a a six-man canoe.
Attendees, including family and volunteers will enjoy an on-shore picnic after boating.
The event is hosted by Sailability of Greater Tampa Bay, a group working to provide access to sailing to children and adults of all abilities.
"These warriors give so much, and being a part of this event is just a small way that we can acknowledge the sacrifices they've made,” Tom Calhoun, Clearwater Sailability volunteer, said in a release.
The Wounded Warrior Project works to raise awareness to the needs of injured service members.
