Video Voyeur Caught at Clearwater Store

Store surveillance video recorded John Acton, 46, of Palm Harbor, as he swung his cell phone underneath the victim's dress, according to an arrest affidavit.

A Palm Harbor man accused of using his cell phone to secretly record underneath a victim's dress at a Clearwater store wound up in jail Saturday afternoon.

Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputies arrested John Acton, 46, on a misdemeanor charge of video voyeurism after store surveillance video recorded Acton as he swung his cell phone underneath the victim's dress.

The arrest affidavit also says Acton admitted to erasing the cell phone video of the victim's underpants.

The incident happened at 3:25 p.m. inside a business at 2528 State Road 580, according to the report. The business located at the address is Total Wines, which is in a shopping complex across the street from the Clearwater Mall.

Acton was released from the Pinellas County Jail Saturday night on $150 bail.
