UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed Crossing Missouri Ave. in Clearwater

Clearwater Police say the man was crossing Missouri near Turner Street when he was struck Wednesday evening.

Updated, 9:04 p.m.:

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle as he crossed Missouri Avenue near Turner Street in Clearwater, authorities said Wednesday.

According to a preliminary investigation, the man was crossing Missouri from the east to the west side and south of the intersection at Turner Street when he was hit, public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts said. The man has not yet been identified.

The driver, 50-year-old Kevin Michael Zeh, of St. Petersburg, "did not see the pedestrian until just before impact," Watts said.

Earlier:

A Clearwater Police investigation of a "traffic homicide" has shut down all southbound lanes of Missouri Avenue at Druid Road, officials said Wednesday evening.

The call came in at 6:52 p.m., according to public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts. All southbound lanes were to remain closed while the investigation was conducted, Watts said.

No further information was immediately available.
