Threshers In First Place After Sweeping Yankees

Trevor May throws a two-hit shutout in opener.

The Clearwater Threshers took over sole possession of first place in the North Division of the Florida State League on Wednesday (Aug. 10) with 4-0 and 6-5 wins in a doubleheader.

Trevor May was dominant in game one, allowing only two hits in the complete game (seven inning) shutout. May added to his league leading strikeout total with nine more.

The Threshers scored all their runs in the fourth with two out, capped by a Jeremy Barnes two-run double.

In the nightcap, Clearwater rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh on back to back, two out singles by Travis Mattair and second baseman Cesar Hernandez.

On Deck: The Threshers send Jonathan Pettibone to the mound on Thursday (Aug. 11) at George M. Steinbrenner Field against the Yankees.
