Although graffiti has existed in various forms since Roman times it's most recent rise to pop culture consciousness has been through the Hip Hop movement of late 1970's New York City.

The art form is still considered one of the four elements of Hip Hop culture and has branched out to every crevice of the globe with the Gulf Coast of Florida being no exception.

Many graffiti artists hail right here from the Tampa Bay Area with work on display in Downtown St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg Beach, Largo, Clearwater, and Tampa.

Some of the artists in the area go by their spray name like Bask, Stoic and Tes One.

This photo piece attempts to showcase a slice of the local street art scene in the Tampa Bay Area.

If you see any street art please feel free to add it here.

The Dr. Suess one is in Downtown St. Pete; off Central, I think, In one of the Alleyways Close to the Water. If were talking about the same picture of ''The guy shooting fire'', then it's in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. It was a huge legal wall.
