The investigation targeted online prostitution advertisements.

"We use a variety of tools and methods to investigate cases and make arrests," said Elizabeth Watts, police spokeswoman. "Solicitation online is present and to combat it we must be online too."

Tori Farrelly, 20, of St. Petersburg

So it's okay for officers to use entrapment to catch crooks? They get to break the law in order to uphold the law?

as one of the girls who was arrested, Their primary concern was to gather intel regarding underage girls and boys being pimped. They are authorized to lie and mislead in effort to maintain a good quality moral standard for you citizens to model yourself after.

The reason this is a LAW, that they may lie and mislead and misrepresent the TRUTH is because NO ONE will get together and object officially. We all want to bitch about these things but we wont agree and then band together and take meaningful action.
so the answer to the first comment is YES they get to break the law in order to uphold the law.

It is not entrapment. Too many people use this word and don't know exactly what they are saying. They are doing undercover work to find the people doing illegal actions. A real example of entrapment would having an officer bet some kid to race across the Gandy Bridge and then pulling him over and citing him for speeding/ reckless driving.
