Robin Williams Films Commercial in Clearwater

Robin Williams and a film crew for Canadian airline, Air Transat, spent two days making a commercial in Clearwater. Did you spot him?

Yes, that might have been Robin Williams beachgoers saw at the Sandpearl or Palm Pavilion.

The comedian and actor was spotted along Clearwater Beach, according to a series of Facebook posts this week.

"Check this out! Robin Williams and a movie crew filming at the Sandpearl!," ClearwaterBeach Florida posted Friday.

Williams is in town filming a commercial for Air Transat, a Canadian airline, for two days, according to a permit with the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Film Commission.

The permit to film this week included on location at the Sandpearl on Friday as well as a condominium on Sand Key on Thursday, said Jonnie Watts, manager at the film commission.

Air Transat carries nearly three million passengers to about 60 destinations in 50 countries including Mexico and the Carribbean, according to the company's website.

Pinellas County has been host to a number of film crews in the last year including for independent film “Sunlight Jr.” with Matt Dillon and Naomi Watts, Steven Soderbergh’s “Magic Mike” and “Spring Breakers” starring Selena Gomez and James Franco.

“Bring it,” Watts said. “That’s what we’re trying to do ... is recruit more business.”
