"This could have been a serious crash. The vehicle runs the red light almost 4 seconds after the signal turned red," according to the Clearwater Police Facebook page.

Running the red light comes with a $158 fine.

Clearwater is guilty of forcing the Cadillac to run the red light. This is clear demonstration of a driver caught in dilemma zone caused by your own traffic engineers. It is your fault!

Any driver who crosses into the intersection around the time the light changes from yellow to red (< 4 seconds) is caused by Clearwater.

I hope you guys get sued.

The federal standards cause dilemma zones. Dilemma zones are basically no-win scenarios or indecision zones. At a certain distance range from the intersection when the light turns yellow, the reasonably perceptive driver does not know whether he can stop or that he must go. The cadlillac driver misguessed by a fraction of a second. Your red light cameras penalize the innocent driver for the engineering mistakes Clearwater commits.

I am surprised the red light camera company permitted you to post the video. They do not want the public to see that their industry banks on engineer-created dilemma zones. 83% of all red-light running occurs within the first second.

They need to have more cameras to slow down the crazies, but also fix the timing. Making a left from 60 to Belcher specially when school lets out its cause for real concern. I take the back way to avoid that intersection at all cost. P
ut some cameras on the causeway...

Grider -- you are correct. Before any city can implement red light cameras, the engineering at the signalized intersections must first be correct. Red light cameras is not a substitute for engineering. Driver behavior is subject to whatever gauntlet the traffic engineer devises. Get the engineering right, then judge the driver.

As it stands now innocent drivers are punished for the negligence and carelessness of traffic engineers. In Clearwater and it cities all over the world, governments collude with red light camera companies in order punish innocent drivers for the systematic mistakes of traffic engineers. The federal standards themselves systematically force drivers to run red lights--just like you see in the video above.

The red light cameras face a traffic signal where the systematic errors of the federal standards and the local traffic engineering mistakes compound together to form the largest blunders and thus maximize red light running and crashes.

Drivers do not have a death wish.

Traffic engineers need to learn physics.

Cities need to be sued because they won't listen otherwise.

Red light camera companies need to be sued for a charlatan fraud scheme.
