No Swimming Allowed at Clearwater Beach
Double red flags are posted at the beach, where swimmers are warned not to go in the water due to rough surf from Tropical Storm Isaac.
There's no swimming allowed Monday at Clearwater Beach thanks to rough surf caused by Tropical Storm Isaac.
Double red flags are posted at the beach, and the lifeguard towers are marked with a "no lifeguard on duty" sign, public safety officials said Monday morning.
The towers had been moved back Sunday in preparation for rising tides.
Pinellas County officials warned all beachgoers to stay out of the water at Gulf of Mexico beaches until the threat from Tropical Storm Isaac has passed.
Even though the skies may clear up, six- to eight-foot waves and the possibility of rip tides still posed a hazard today, officials said.
