Fugitive Belleair Millionaire Captured
John D. Stanton III, facing jail time for failing to pay his ex-wife millions in support, was caught by U.S. marshals Friday in Orlando, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
A fugitive Belleair millionaire was tracked down and arrested last week in Orlando after he failed to pay his ex-wife millions in support, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
John D. Stanton III, who according to the newspaper once claimed a net worth of $269 million, was caught by U.S. marshals Friday afternoon at a Fairfield Inn in Orlando.
Stanton, 63, the former president of a Seffner building supplies company, was being held without bail at the Orange County jail, the Times reports. "He is expected to be transported by Monday to Hillsborough, where a judge sentenced him to six months in jail in absentia for failing to pay his wife $6 million in support," according to the Times story.
